"He's awake?" Meg finished up on her patient. "Can I go see him?"

Matt lifted up the blanket. "Like I thought." He said, examining his legs. Down from the knees was pure electronic. He sat his feet on the ground. "Pins and needles... must be expienencing phantom pain." He remembered reading about that in a book. He looked up at KJ. "I guess I'm okay. Are you the nurse who worked on me?"

William looked over at Meg. "You're going to have to ask KJ." he said

Meg looked back and smirked. "I'll have to go to my brother to do that." Meg left the patients and headed toward her brother.

Kj chuckled. "I prefer the term Medical Specialist, but nurse works too. Yes, I am the one who worked on your legs. Do you think you'll need recover to get used to them?"

"Nope." Matt got up and slowly stood. "I think I'm taller now..." He said, mildly entertained. He walked around. "This feels... different. But I like it." He said.


Meg saw her brother. "Matt! Your okay! And your taller!"

William smiled "KJ!" He shouted "I need help with the others."

"Coming!" Kj shouted to William. She started walking backwards towards William. "Matt, you're going to have to stay in bed for at least 2 hours, your legs are at a terrible temperature of 250 degrees!" and she ran off to William. "What do we have here?" she asked

"Severed Vocal chord, missing leg, and missing ear." William said

Matt grumbled but headed back into the bed. "This sucks. So, where's mom and dad?" Meg's face fell. Matt looked at her. "Your face already says what I need to know." Meg replied, "Yes, but I didn't really think of it until now." Meg ran off. She didn't know where to go, being no longer 16 and being without a home. So she got on a cruiser and headed toward the wreckage of her home. She scanned it again, and was responded with, "No living matter." Matt's and Meg's home was now a grave.

"Just what we needed..." Kj mumblef. She scribbled something on the clipboard above the patients head. "There are metal ear replacements in the storage room. I have to get Matts skin and cool it. While I'm back there I'll grab the ears."

William nodded. "I'll get the metal inserts." He said

All Matt could do was sit there while his sister left. "Uh, KJ, someone!?!?" He called. His voice was still mildly hoarse, but he hoped that someone could hear him.

William grabbed the metal inserts and walked over to Matt's bed. "Yes?" he asked

"My sister- I don't know, she was glad that I was ok, but I think she finally realized... that our parents and friends didn't make it... She just ran out of here, I can't go get her... so help?" Matt said.

William nodded and left the medic and looked around for his cruiser. "Looks like she took it." William said, he shrugged and used his new speed to run to Nervadorn.

Meg just sat on the ground and began to cry. "This is stupid! Why... its my birthday too.... why today!?!" Meg felt angry mixed with sad. Why can't bombs kill everyone? At least...

William slowed to a jog. "Meg..." he said

"Go away." She grumbled, realizing it was William. She looked at the pile of rumble. "Why... why did you wait for me to wake up? You could've saved my friends..." Meg said, trying to hide her tears from him.

"You and Matt were the only ones who survived. We thought there might be other survivors so we needed you to find other survivors." William explained

Meg said what she had been thinking. "Bombs should be made more effective. That way... theres no people to cry later."

"Meg, crying after them won't bring them back." William said "But we can help those who survived."

Meg didn't respond, but she did stop crying. She then got back in the cruiser. "Sorry for borrowing your cruiser." She muttered.

William shrugged "It's alright." He said "Just let me know next time."
